Disney's CARS

The boys are absolutely obsessed with Disney's CARS movie. It started with a book about Mater that Grandma & Grandpa gave them. We read that book to them every night and we slowly started showing them bits and pieces of the movie. This really came in handy recently when the boys were really sick and Drew had to sit still for a nebulizer treatment. I was able to just put them into their rocking chairs in front of the TV with CARS on and they sat completely still. I considered having a double-showing one day while they were sick because they were both so miserable (actually, that was "doctor's orders"). :)
This photo is from today while the boys were playing. I turned the TV on to get everything set up for the nebulizer treatment and both boys quickly heard Lightning McQueen's voice and just had to see the TV.
Nana is also making us vinyl covers for our high chairs that have a Disney CARS design on them. We can't wait to start using them!
And an update on the walking - Drew is ALL over the place and Jake is taking 5-6 steps. I'm sure next week something else new will be worth posting.

Attempt at Jake taking Steps Videos

Here are 2 videos attempting to capture Jake taking steps. He has taken as many as 5 steps but I am having a really hard time getting a video of it. This first video just shows what can happen when you turn your back on Drew (and I'm sure Jake would do something very similar!).

This next video does get Jake taking a couple of steps, but he is just too busy to bother with showing off ability to take a few steps. He is all about getting to the camera... sort of like Drew in the other video.

Jake the Climber

So Jake has been quite the climber for a while now but usually he is just climbing onto things he shouldn't be getting into. Or he will climb up and over things that serves no purpose. He recently climbed up and into something that could actually serve a purpose. Here is a video of his accomplishment:

This morning he also figured out how to climb onto the tray of the walker and get both of his legs into the CORRECT holes. It involves some screams of frustration, but he eventually gets into it.

A Day in the Life of Almost 15 month boys

Here is a day in the life of Drew and Jake. Jake decided he wanted to get into one of the walkers. I was facing the other direction and when I turned around he was just smiling proudly at what he accomplished. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he didn't quite have it right. And Drew was very busy opening all the drawers and cabinets holding all their diapering and changing items. He loves to take stuff out of containers and put them all back... not necessarily in the same or correct containers....

Drew - more walking

So Drew is now an arms-up walker. He is still very unsteady and constantly plops down or falls, but he is all over the place now. He hasn't figured out how to get up without using something to pull himself up, but he also doesn't seem to care to figure that out just yet. Jake has also started taking 5-6 steps at a time ending with a leaning dive-bomb into whoever is waiting for him. We haven't been able to catch that on video yet, but we will sooner or later.

Going forward on a Ride-On toy

The boys hadn't yet figured out how to go forward while sitting on the ride-on toys and some friends of theirs (Luke and Zack) suggested putting them on the kitchen floor rather then the carpet. Here is how the boys figured out how to move forward:

New Tunnel

The boys have been going crazy with crawling through and onto things so we decided to buy them a tunnel. They both love it and, of course, Jake loves it a little more than Drew. Here are a few videos of them enjoying it.


We got a new organization unit and are getting rid of the open changing table that was in our living room (yes, our living room). We are actually giving it to Kami who is due in February with a little girl! It seems that as soon as you make plans to get rid of something, the kiddos find another way to make use of it. This time it was as a climbing obstacle.
