6 months old TODAY!

It is so hard to believe that Drew and Jake were born 6 months ago today! Who would have ever thought that we would not only finally have the titles of "Mommy & Daddy", but be a Mommy and Daddy to 2 beautiful twin boys?!! It's hard to imagine that only a year ago we found out that there were 2 little heart beats in Kimmie's belly. We remember the fertility doctor saying it so casually as if it wasn't too crazy... but then even the doctor commented "It's never a dull moment with you, Kimmie". After more than 4 years of all those fertility treatments, we were so happy to be in that 1% of the IVF patients who get pregnant with identical twins. This first "photo" of the boys brought us so much happiness.

And now we can't believe the boys are 6 months old! So much has happened in the last 6 months. The boys are growing up so fast and there is something new happening almost every single day. Actually today was the first day the boys wore actual shoes (not just soft ones) and it took quite a few tricks to get Jake to finally look at the camera rather than look at these new things on his feet. ha ha! I guess the doctor said it right.... It's never a dull moment! :)

TWINFANT luncheon!

We attended a "TWINFANT" luncheon today. It was 4 other families of infant twins. There were 2 month olds, 4 month olds (2 sets), 6 month olds (Jake and Drew), and 8 month olds. It was a lot of fun swapping information and sharing stories with all the other moms and dads. Usually when we attend these sorts of things it is one mom to every set of babies, but this time it was a mom AND a dad for every set so it was a little less chaotic. Everyone actually had a free moment or two to eat their own lunches! Drew and Jake even took their normal small afternoon catnap. Jake slept in someone else's bassinet while Drew fell asleep in his car seat that was hooked into a swing (yeah... there is a swing contraption that you can put a car seat in!).
We took some great photos and Russ took this video during the photo session:

Things

Here is a cute photo from this morning's photo shoot while the boys were being "things". If anyone is curious, on the boys other website (not this blog), when you click on "PHOTOS", you can see 1438 photos of the boys. Yes, Mommy has taken that many photos of us... I bet it's hard to get a single baby to look at the camera and smile, but it seems it is slightly more difficult to get BOTH babies to look at AND smile at the camera... so Mommy often takes lots and lots of photos. ha ha.

New Bath Routine!

So we tried another bath routine because the boys have been making just too much of a mess in their infant tub. I guess we have finally decided they have outgrown that tub and we are now putting them into their bath rings... but still in the kitchen sink! Jake really liked to be sprinkled with the faucet while Drew was completely mesmerized by all the water.

We also used our new towels that Darin and Liz gave us. The crazy thing is that if you wanted to buy these towels online, the store where Darin and Liz bought them advertises them as a "twin gift"... AND the sample photo shows 2 towels: one with the name DREW embroidered and one with the name JAKE embroidered! How crazy is that? See it here.

Drew gets his First Tooth!

So, exactly ONE WEEK after his brother, Drew has his first tooth. He was really really fussy last night so we guess that might be the reason! He is also now congested just like Jake was right after his first tooth came in. Here is the attempt at a photo... but you can't see anything because he just keeps licking his new jagged bump.

Lots of Visitors!

We had lots of visitors in the last 3 days! On Saturday, Angie, William, and Kristin came to see the boys. It was the first time William and Kristin had seen them! William was very excited as you can see in this video: William with Jake and Drew
Then on Sunday, the Colemans came for a visit. They gave us our first blow up baby pool and we can't wait to use it!

Today, Mommy took us to see Melissa, Jen, and all their kids/babies (Melissa has 3 girls and Jen has 2 boys). It was fun, but Jake and Drew decided to cut it short by crying for lunch WAY too early...

So Mommy surprised Nana by showing up at her house for lunch (she was still in her PJs... ha ha!). It was the first time the boys have been to Nana's house! They were so good and didn't cry at all while we were there.

Giggling

Both boys giggle a little whenever Mommy makes exaggerated kissing noises. It is really cute... especially if both of them get going. Here is a video from Thursday morning while the boys were in their exersaucers getting ready to watch their FAVORITE show, the Backyardigans!
